Great News - a new phase of our story
As a result of the many achievements of the team at Nice to Be Nice we have decided to place our future legacy on a more formal standing. As a result, we are delighted to announce that we have been successful in applying to the UK Charity Commision and have become a registered charity, numbered 1213147.
For most of our day-to-day activities, things will be very much business as usual and very little change will be noticed. We are also now able to use the Gift Aid scheme to increase the value of donations and be able to apply for funding from a much wider number of sources.
By becoming a registered Charity, we hope to better ensure the long-term future of our projects and support for Schools and education in The Gambia, thus providing more certainty for the children we support and the teaching staff.

Nice to be Nice CIO is a registered charity (Charity Number: 1213147) with the Charities Commission for England and Wales.
We work to improve access to education in The Gambia by partnering with schools and communities to provide classrooms, teacher training, school equipment, electricity, and clean water. Rooted in the simple belief that it’s nice to be nice, we are a non-religious organisation committed to kindness, fairness, and lasting impact.
During a trip to The Gambia in 2013, two British travellers stopped on the Highway to give out crayons to a small number of school children. Within minutes they were surrounded by children who seemed to appear out of nowhere. They had stumbled upon Badumeh Lower Basic school, which coincidentally had formed that very same year. A strong bond was formed and ever since a small team of people have raised funds in the UK and continued to support the school via a not for profit organisation they established called ‘Nice to be Nice’.
We continue to support Badumeh by supplying food, equipment, clothing and other resources.
